John Steinbeck

john-steinbeckJohn Ernst Steinbeck, Jr. (February 27, 1902 – December 20, 1968) was an American writer. He is widely known for the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Grapes of Wrath (1939), East of Eden (1952) and the novella Of Mice and Men (1937). As the author of twenty-seven books, including sixteen novels, six non-fiction books, and five collections of short stories, Steinbeck received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962.

Of Mice and Men was written by Nobel Prize-winning author John Steinbeck. Published in 1937, it tells the tragic story of George Milton and Lennie Small, two displaced migrant ranch workers, who move from place to place in search of new job opportunities during the Great Depression in California, USA.

Director/Whit: Mia Cooper

MiaMia Cooper – Mia is thrilled to be a part of this production. Although this is Mia’s first full theatrical experience as a director or an actor, her related experience began at the age of 9 at a family reunion when she led her siblings and cousins in a musical revue on a makeshift living room stage. Show-stopping performances of “The Starwars Gangsta Rap” and other original songs about the family dogs led the adults in attendance to demand that a show be performed annually. The show continues to this day, with younger family members taking on the directorial role. Mia will return to New York City in September to complete her degree in Urban Studies at Barnard College. She would like to thank the cast for their great collaboration!

George Milton: Louis Provenzano

LP Louis image001Louis Provenzano – Louis has been involved with various community theatre organizations for many years and has written, directed, and acted in many local theatre productions. His list of favorite characters include: Willy Loman (Death of a Salesman), Hercule Poirot (Black Coffee), Bob Cratchit (A Christmas Carol), Ernie Cusak (Rumors), and St. Paul (The Conversion of St. Paul). Louis would like to thank Mia the director for her dedication and hard work to the production and the cast and crew for their outstanding contributions to this production.

Louis received his undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of St. Thomas and is honored to support the performance arts on campus through his participation in this production.

Louis is married, an ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church, and recently became a grandfather.

Lennie Small: Fulton Fry

Fully 2Fulton Fry –  Fully has been doing community theater since 1996 and like most er…..large framed actors, Lennie “Small”  is a dream role for him.  Working with Louis and Ron again is a true pleasure, as is meeting all the other talented members of this cast.  I am never comfortable dedicating performances to people I love, because..what if I am terrible.

I would like to dedicate any possible bad performances to the Dallas Cowboys, Republican Party and various and sundry ex-girlfriends.

Candy: Ron Drumm

Ron Drumm – Ron is a Houston native who graduated from Deer Park Senior High in 1967. He attended San Jacinto College and went on to California State College at Los Angeles. He has been performing onstage since the age of 13. He lived and performed in San Francisco from 1976 through 1996. He returned to Houston where he returned to the stage at Pasadena Little Theatre and makes his second appearance with us in OF MICE AND MEN. “I love being able to continue to do what is a passion for me at the age of 65.”
